This 3-day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking tour takes you to the mighty Volcanoes National Park one of a few African protected areas located in the Virunga massif known for homing the endangered mountain gorillas. Trekking the mountain gorillas is an awe-inspiring experience where you go through lush vegetation and spend an hour observing these magnificent primates.
The tour will also include an optional activity of either hiking to Dian Fossey’s tomb or visiting the Iby’iwachu Cultural village. Have a short city tour in Kigali where you visit places like the genocide memorial museum, local markets, gallery centers, and more. The tour combines wildlife with culture with a blend of scenic views.
The driver guide assigned to you will pick you up from Kigali city and you will immediately make a transfer to Volcanoes National Park a home to the rare mountain gorillas. The drive to the park will last for about 3 to 4 hours and is very interesting since it is a scenic drive accompanied by beautiful landscapes. Arrive at the lodge, check in, and prepare for the next day’s adventure in style.
Wake up excited to meet the endangered mountain gorillas and the day will begin with breakfast, a short drive to the park offices for briefing. The 30-minute exercise is important since you are told about the materials you need while trekking, the rules and regulations such as feeding animals is prohibited, keeping a distance is highly recommended, and many others. Searching for the gorillas will begin under the guidance of the park ranger as you enjoy beautiful birds like Handsome Francolin, Rwenzori turaco, blue-headed sunbirds, and many more.
Make memories with the gorillas for an hour while recording videos and capturing photos and you learn about their behaviors and movements. Head back to the lodge for lunch followed by an optional activity like visiting the Iby’iwachu cultural village or hiking to Dian Fossey graveyard.
Have breakfast and head back to Kigali for a short city tour where you visit places like the genocide memorial museum, Kimironko market, art and gallery centers, milk bars, and many more. After you will head to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home and this will mark the end of the safari.
