5 Days Amboseli and Tsavo Safari

Trip Overview

The 5-day safari takes you through Amboseli National Park, Tsavo West and Tsavo East in Kenya offering incredible wildlife encounters, stunning landscapes and cultural experiences. Amboseli National Park provides breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds while Tsavo West features shentani lava flows and Mzima Springs.

It is also a home to hippos and crocodiles. Tsavo East is known for its red elephants and lions. The safari offers scenic game drives and an optional Masai cultural experience. There is a lot to explore including animals like lions, cheetahs, giraffes, kudu, elephants, elands, rhinos and more.

our Day-by-Day Itinerary

The safari begins with a pick-up from Nairobi and you will transfer to Amboseli National Park a journey that will take about 4 to 5 hours drive as you pass through a scenic landscape and small towns with local roadside markets. Have a breathtaking view of Mt Kilimanjaro in the backdrop of the park on your arrival.

In the afternoon depending on the arrival time, take a game drive in Amboseli National Park to watch large herds of elephants and abundant wildlife making it an ideal place for wildlife viewing in Africa. At sunset, return to the lodge for your dinner and night stay.

The tour starts early in the morning with a game drive since it’s the best time to see predators like lions, cheetahs, hyenas and more before they retire from the heat of the day. The day will also reward you with giraffes, zebras, elephants, buffalos, antelopes and more of the birds like the vultures.

Visit the observation hill, a high viewing point that offers a panoramic view of the swamps in Amboseli. Here, spot animals like elephants, hippos and buffalos cooling off and after lunch, visit the Masai community to enjoy the beautiful culture as you participate in cattle grazing, milking, music dance, drama and more. Retreat to the lodge for your dinner.

Have a morning game drive in Amboseli before heading to Tsavo West National Park. The journey to this park takes about 3 to 4 hours with a scenic drive. Arrive, check-in and be served with lunch that will be followed by a visit to Mzima springs, a serie of crystal pools fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro. This is a point to spot crocodiles and hippos. Tsavo West is an ideal place to watch red elephants. Head back to the lodge for your dinner and this will be the end of the day.

You will begin the day with a morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park before heading to Tsavo East National Park. The journey will take about 2 to 3 hours and this park is known for its vast wilderness and large elephant herds.

Check in the accommodation faculty and enjoy lunch which will be followed by a game drive where you spot animals like elephants, rhinos, buffalos, cheetahs, wildebeest, elands, giraffes, water bucks, leopards, warthogs and more. Return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

A short flight brings you to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, a world-renowned private sanctuary dedicated to rhino conservation. After checking into Lewa Wilderness Lodge, you’ll head out on an afternoon game drive, where black and white rhinos roam freely. The highlight of the day is a horseback safari, offering a unique way to explore the conservancy while riding alongside giraffes and antelopes. The evening is spent enjoying a candlelit dinner on your private terrace.

Have the last game drive where you encounter more wildlife and after head back to Nairobi for your departure flight and this marks the end of the safari.
