Take part in this memorable and adventure 7 Days Rwanda gorillas and wildlife that takes you through Volcanoes National Park for gorilla trekking and cultural tour, visit Lake Kivu for a boat cruise, head to Nyungwe National Park for chimpanzee tracking and forest canopy walk and finish by visiting Kigali city after game drive and boat cruise in Akagera national park. This safari therefore includes beautiful scenery, primates, wildlife and culture. The safari begins and ends in Kigali Rwanda.
Be picked up from the agreed location in Kigali City the capital city of Rwanda by the assigned driver guide and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. This is one of the few protected areas located in the Virunga mountains known to be home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The journey is through the twin lakes and it takes about 4 hours to reach the lodge. Check-in and prepare for the evening dinner.
Wake up excited to meet the gentle giants and have your breakfast. This will be followed by a drive to the park for briefing an important time to learn about the guidelines to follow, materials needed like Binoculars and cameras, assignment of the park ranger guide and escorts and more. The search will begin in the forest while spotting, 32like vervet monkeys, baboons, red-tailed monkeys and many more others.
Meeting these beautiful creatures allows you to spend an hour following their behaviors and movements. Some family members will be playing, breastfeeding, and searching for food as the Silverback practices leadership skills. Head back to the lodge for a hot lunch followed by a cultural tour of the ibyiwachu cultural village. During this time learn about stories of long ago, get entertained by the music and dances and many more. Head to the lodge for dinner and a night’s stay.
Have breakfast followed by a drive to Lake Kivu and which is the largest water body in Rwanda at the border of DR Congo. Arrive and enjoy an afternoon boat cruise that gives you a chance to catch a glimpse of DR Congo’s horizons hence a memorable experience. Spend a night at the resort hotel and this will create everlasting memories.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then head to Nyungwe National Park home to 13 primates and the chimpanzees are the main attraction. The journey takes about 5 hours to drive and on arrival, take an early lunch followed by a canopy walk. The bridge is suspended in the air at a height of 70m and 160m long giving an aerial view of the forest, birds singing melodies, as you spot different primates like vervet monkeys, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and more. Head to the lodge for dinner and this will mark the end of the safari.
Have breakfast and head to the park offices for briefing exercises. This time allows you to get used to chimpanzees and the forest as you learn the history of this national park, be told about the dos and don’ts, check the trekking permits, allocate to a group of fellow trekkers and many more others. While in the forest, spot other primates like vervet monkeys, Grey checked mangabeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons and many more others. Meet the community/group of chimpanzees and spend an hour with them learning about their behaviors like feeding, playing and fighting. After lunch, head to Akagera National Park for another adventure the next day.
Have a morning game drive in the savannah plains of the Akagera National Park for 2 hours to watch animals like rhinos, elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, warthogs, leopards, buffalos, lions and more. Afternoon, take a boat cruise which will last for 2 hours on Lake Ihema for wildlife viewing including crocodiles, hippos, birds like African fish eagles and large flocks of crowned cranes, Carruther’s Cisticola and more.
Head back to Kigali city for a short city tour to visit places like the genocide memorial museum, Kimironko market and many more. Be dropped at the airport to mark the end of the safari.
