3 days chimp trekking tour in Kibale National Park

This 3-day adventure to Kibale National Park offers the perfect blend of wildlife, nature, and cultural experience. The tour will begin with a transfer to Kibale National Park and a visit to chimpanzees while trekking the next day after taking part in a community walk with Isunga Cultural Community adventures where you get to discover three crater lakes, Hike to the top of the world, and meeting local women participating in basket weaving. The journey is amazing as you pass through the lush green landscape of tables like Tea estates, banana gardens, forests, and roadside markets.

our Day-by-Day Itinerary

Meet and greet your tour driver guide at any agreed point and, this will be in the morning or afternoon. Then, begin a journey that will last for about 5 to 6 hours’ drive that will take you to Kibale National Park. This is a unique destination in Uganda and Africa at large which homes about 13 primates including a big population of chimpanzees.

While on the way, enjoy the beautiful green landscape covered with tea plantations, banana gardens, coffee plantations, and more. Head to the lodge on your arrival and prepare for the next day’s activities.

Wake up and head to the park offices for a briefing about today’s morning experience at the Kanyanchu visitor center. During this time, be told about the dos and don’ts to follow while trekking such as don’t feed wild animals, always keeping a distance, don’t use the flashlight camera, don’t make noise, and more. The park guide will be assigned to you as the warden makes a crosscheck of your trekking permits and many more.

Head into the forest with the guidance of the park ranger guide and sort and begin spotting other primates and birds like varvet monkeys, baboons, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and, many more others. On spotting the chimpanzees for the first time, spend an hour with them learning about their behaviors of feeding, playing, breastfeeding, and more.

The whole tour will last for about 2 to 4 hours but very memorable and rewarding. Later on, return to the lodge for lunch which will be followed by a visit to the Isunga cultural community for a community walk to explore the crater lakes (Lake Nyabikere, Lake Nyinabulitwa, and Lake Nyamirima), meet women weaving baskets, take part in cultural performance as the walk end up hiking to top of the world, a hill standing at 1445m above the sea level rewarding you an adventure to have a panoramic view of the surrounding. Return and retire at the lodge.

Have breakfast at leisure and then transfer back to Kampala or Entebbe with enroute stopover in Mubende town for refreshments and local food tasting. Proceed and be dropped at the airport and this will mark the end of the safari.
